Short drama and AI take the stage at Marseille Web Fest 2026
A French festival embraces vertical formats
The Marseille Web Fest — the international festival of short-form series, now in its 16th edition — takes place on 15, 16 and 17 October 2026 at La Coque and Théâtre Joliette in Marseille (free, with registration). This year, short drama, vertical formats and AI run through the whole programme. (Source: Marseille Web Fest, 2026 programme.)
Short drama in the spotlight
Several sessions tackle the format head-on: a keynote “Short Drama, the new territory of fiction?” by producer Guillaume Sanjorge (Duanju News), a keynote on YouTube formats by Louis Porée (Écran Total), and a talk with Isabelle Degeorges (Gaumont Télévision) on the future of fiction across TV, platforms and new creators.
A Vertical Clap talk
On Thursday 15 October (3:00–3:45 pm, La Coque), Sophie Attelann — writer, director and founder of Vertical Clap — gives a fireside talk, “Short drama: borrow the mechanics, not the clichés”, moderated by Thomas Coispel, covering writing and production with AI. A sign that vertical drama is now part of France's major audiovisual gatherings. (Source: Marseille Web Fest.)
